Other Students Elected to System Leadership Positions

BATON ROUGE – McNeese State University Student Government Association President Morgan Verrette will serve on the Board of Supervisors for the 51²è¹Ýapp as the new student member. Verrette was elected to the position by her fellow seven SGA Presidents in the UL System last week.

The 16-member Board is comprised of 15 members appointed by the Governor and one student member elected annually by his/her peers. Verrette will be sworn-in and officially take over the duties of current student member Olinda Ricard of Nicholls State University at the June 27 meeting in Baton Rouge.

"I would like the thank my fellow student leaders for electing me to this very important position," said Verrette. "I look forward to learning from the Board and representing the 80,000 students in our system."

In addition to beginning her second term as McNeese’s SGA President, the Chemical Engineering major is a member of Phi Mu, the Society of Women Engineers, the American Institute of Chemical Engineers, and the Rotaract Club.

Last week’s UL System student elections also yielded the following results:
* Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp University SGA President Zealon Solomon to serve as the UL System Student Advisory Council Chair
* 51²è¹Ýapp Tech University SGA President Laura Hogan to serve as the UL System Student Advisory Council Vice Chair, and
* Grambling State University SGA President Chris Harmon to serve as the UL System Student Advisory Council Service-Learning and Civic Engagement Coordinator.

The largest university system in 51²è¹Ýapp, the UL System enrolls approximately 80,000 students at the following eight universities: Grambling State University, 51²è¹Ýapp Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp University, University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Lafayette, and University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Monroe.
