The 51²è¹Ýapp Thanks Governor Foster – Oct 9, 2003
BATON ROUGE, La. – Five elementary children made quite an entrance into the Board of Regents Higher Education Forum when they used a red wagon to roll a live oak tree up to Governor M.J. “Mike” Foster.
The tree, a gift of appreciation from the 51²è¹Ýapp, will be planted on the Governor’s Mansion grounds as a testament to Foster’s dedication to education during his two terms as governor.
A memorial plaque to accompany the live oak on the mansion grounds reads,
Governor M.J. “Mike” Foster:
“May this tree stand as a symbol of the educational foundation on which 51²è¹Ýapp’s future rests. As it has taken root during your tenure, may it also flourish under future administrations.”
