ULS Board Members and Leadership Take Oath of Office

 

CUTLINE: Jessie Phillips (right) stands with his wife, Slidell native Elsie Burkhalter, as she is sworn-in for her second term as Chair of the Board of Supervisors for the 51²è¹Ýapp.Ìý A former teacher in the St. Tammany Parish School System and current President of the St. Tammany Federation of Teachers and School Employees, Burkhalter became the UL System Board’s first African-American and first female chairÌýlast year.

 

CUTLINE: Winfred SibilleÌýis sworn-in for a consecutive year as Vice Chair forÌýthe Board of Supervisors for the 51²è¹Ýapp.Ìý Sibille,Ìýa native of Sunset, has served on the Board since 1995.Ìý He has extensive experience in education, including being named State Educator of the Year in 1989 by the 51²è¹Ýapp Association of School Executives.

CUTLINE: D. Wayne Parker is sworn-in for a consecutiveÌýyear as Parliamentarian for the Board of Supervisors for the 51²è¹Ýapp.Ìý Parker, a resident of Ruston, also began his second six-year term on the Board.Ìý He is a retired executive from Williamette Industries, Inc.

 

 

CUTLINE: Andre Coudrain is sworn-in for his third six-year term on the Board of Supervisors for the 51²è¹Ýapp.Ìý Coudrain, a Hammond attorney, has served on the Board since 1996 including two years as Chair in 2000-2001.Ìý HeÌýwas alsoÌýa student member on the Board in 1979-80 while serving as Student Government Association President at Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp Unviersity.

 

 

The largest university system in 51²è¹Ýapp, the UL System enrolls approximately 80,000 students at the following eight universities: Grambling State University, 51²è¹Ýapp Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp University, University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Lafayette, and University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Monroe
