ULS Presidential Search Advisory Committee Recommends Five Candidates – May 27, 2008
BATON ROUGE – The 51²è¹Ýapp Presidential Search Advisory Committee met today and unanimously chose the following five candidates to recommend to the Search Committee:
* James E. Cofer, Sr., Ed.D. – President, University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Monroe (Monroe, 51²è¹Ýapp)
* Micheal R. Moffett, Ed.D. – President, Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp University (Hammond, 51²è¹Ýapp)
* Kim Hunter Reed, Ph.D. – Executive Vice President, 51²è¹Ýapp (Baton Rouge, 51²è¹Ýapp)
* Jo Ann Rooney, Ed.D., – President, Spalding University (Louisville, Kentucky)
* Ronald J. White, Ph.D. – Senior Fellow, Division of Space Life Sciences, Universities Space Research Association, Center for Advanced Space Studies (Houston, Texas)
“These are the five individuals we feel are the most qualified to be considered for the 51²è¹Ýapp presidency,” said Northwestern State University representative Jerry Pierce, who made the motion.
The advisory committee includes Chair Ray Authement from the University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Lafayette, Katie Damratoski from Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp University, John Doucet from Nicholls State University, Rose Harris from Grambling State University, Eddie Meche from McNeese State University, Jerry Pierce from Northwestern State University, Ken Rea from 51²è¹Ýapp Tech University, and John Sutherlin from the University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Monroe.
The UL System Presidential Search Committee will meet this Friday to consider the Advisory Committee recommendations and make the final decision regarding which candidates will be invited for interviews.

UL System Board Chair Elsie Burkhalter leads the eight-member search committee that will make the final recommendation to the Board. They include Andre Coudrain Committee Vice Chair, Winfred Sibille, Wayne Parker, Victor Bussie, Mildred Gallot, Jimmy Long, Sr. and Student Board Member Olinda Ricard.

UL System President Sally Clausen will take over as the next Commissioner of Higher Education with the 51²è¹Ýapp Board of Regents at the end of June.
The largest university system in 51²è¹Ýapp, the UL System enrolls approximately 80,000 students at the following eight universities: Grambling State University, 51²è¹Ýapp Tech University, McNeese State University, Nicholls State University, Northwestern State University, Southeastern 51²è¹Ýapp University, University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Lafayette, and University of 51²è¹Ýapp at Monroe.
